Drug addiction affects the entire family, from parents to children, brothers, sisters, and at times even close friends. Substance abuse will affect each family differently, however there are many common adversities among families facing drug addiction, including legal issues, emotional distress, financial difficulties, and domestic violence.

Treating the addicted person on thgeir own may not always result in long lasting changes, however treating the patient together with their family as one unit can yield the best results.

Group Couselling can be a vital resource for the family and friends of those struggling with addiction. Family members may experience a variety of emotional responses to their loved one’s drug addiction, including guilt, shame, anxiety, grief, and even anger. Support groups will provide a safe and supportive environment in which family members can process and heal any emotional wounds they’ve sustained as a result of addiction.
